Proposed Dnipro region airport could handle 2-3 million passengers per year.

A proposed new airport close to the village of Solone in Dnipropetrovsk region could service between two and three million passengers per year within five years if the project goes ahead, according to Ukraine’s Infrastructure Minister Volodymyr Omelyan, who says the project has already generated considerable interest among Ukrainian and international investors. Strategically placed between the cities of Dnipro and Zaporizhia, the new air hub is one possible solution to the lack of modern airport facilities servicing this heavily populated industrial region in southeastern Ukraine. Rival plans to redevelop the existing airport facilities in Dnipro continue to develop in parallel to design and preparatory works for the potential new airport at Solone.
